The 80/20 split
OnlyFans deducts a flat 20% from every payment a creator receives. There are no listing fees, no monthly fees and no separate charge for payment processing on the creator side — the 20% covers hosting, payments, support and moderation. At platform scale, that 20% was about $1.55 billion of net revenue in FY2025, against about $6.3 billion paid out to creators.
A worked example
| Month’s income | Fans pay | OnlyFans keeps (20%) | Creator receives (80%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 subscribers at $9.99 | $999.00 | $199.80 | $799.20 |
| PPV messages sold | $600.00 | $120.00 | $480.00 |
| Tips | $250.00 | $50.00 | $200.00 |
| Total | $1,849.00 | $369.80 | $1,479.20 |
The creator’s share is before income tax, any agency commission, and possible chargebacks (a fan disputing a payment with their bank reverses it). Taxes are covered in OnlyFans taxes.
How and when creators get paid
- Pending balance. New earnings are held for a short period before they become available — typically around a week, and it can be longer for new accounts. The hold covers refunds and chargebacks.
- Current balance. Once cleared, money moves to the balance you can withdraw.
- Withdrawal. Request a payout manually or set up automatic payouts. The minimum is typically $20 for bank transfers; some payout methods have a higher minimum.
- Arrival. Domestic bank transfers usually arrive within a few business days; international transfers can take longer and your bank may charge fees.
Available payout methods depend on your country (direct bank transfer is the standard; some regions also support e-wallets such as Paxum). You must complete identity verification and add tax information before the first payout.
Price limits creators work within
- Subscriptions: free, or between $4.99 and $49.99 a month. Creators can offer discounted 3-, 6- and 12-month bundles and limited-time promotions, plus free trial links.
- Pay-per-view: priced per post or message by the creator, within platform limits (commonly reported at up to about $200 per item).
- Tips: subject to per-transaction caps that are reported to be lower for newer fan accounts.
Limits can change, so check the current values in your OnlyFans settings. Across OnlyPedia’s sample, the average paid subscription is $13.29/month and about 31% of creators are free. How to set your own prices: OnlyFans pricing guide.
The referral program
Creators (and some affiliates) can earn by referring new creators. OnlyFans pays the referrer 5% of the referred creator’s earnings for that creator’s first 12 months, capped at $50,000 per referred creator (i.e. on their first $1 million). The 5% comes out of OnlyFans’ share — the referred creator still keeps 80%. Before May 2020 referral commissions were paid for life; the switch to 12 months is the subject of a class-action lawsuit brought by referrers.
How the payout compares with other platforms
A 20% fee is the norm among adult-friendly subscription platforms: Fansly also takes 20%, and some competitors advertise lower rates for certain tiers. What OnlyFans offers in exchange is scale — by far the largest paying audience. See OnlyFans vs Fansly, OnlyFans vs Fanvue and OnlyFans alternatives for a comparison.
