Why OnlyFans verifies every creator
OnlyFans hosts adult content and pays creators money, so it has two legal reasons to know exactly who each creator is: to keep anyone under 18 off the platform, and to pay the right person (and report their income for tax). Its Acceptable Use Policy also requires written proof that every person shown in content is at least 18 and has consented. That is why verification is not optional and cannot be skipped. The identity checks are carried out with Ondato, a KYC (know-your-customer) provider that has worked with OnlyFans since 2020.
What you need to get verified
- Age 18 or over (or older, if your country sets a higher age for signing contracts).
- A valid, unexpired government photo ID — typically a passport, driving licence or national ID card.
- A phone or webcam for the live selfie, and good, even light.
- Your legal name, date of birth and address entered exactly as they appear on the ID.
- A bank account in your own name for payouts (added in the same flow or right after).
- Some creators report being asked to link a public social media profile as an extra identity check.
How to get verified on OnlyFans, step by step
- Create an account at onlyfans.com and confirm your email.
- Choose to become a creator (the option to add a bank account and start earning, in your account menu) to open the verification flow.
- Enter your personal details exactly as they appear on your ID.
- Photograph your ID (front, and back if asked): flat surface, all four corners visible, no glare, no fingers over text.
- Take the live selfie — facing the light, nothing covering your face, usually holding the same ID.
- Submit and wait for the approval email; meanwhile you can prepare your profile, bio and first posts.
- Once approved, add payout and tax details and set your price — the rest of the setup is in how to start an OnlyFans.
Menu names change from time to time; if you cannot find a step, the OnlyFans Help Center has the current path.
How long OnlyFans verification takes
Many creators are approved within a few hours, and most within a day. The figure most often quoted is up to 72 hours. It takes longer when the automatic check is unsure and a person has to review the documents manually, or when you are asked to resubmit. If several days pass with no answer, check your spam folder for the verification email before contacting support. Resubmitting the same poor photo again rarely helps; fix the cause first.
Why verification gets rejected (and how to fix it)
| Common reason | Fix |
|---|---|
| Blurry, dark or cropped ID photo; glare on the card | Retake on a dark, flat surface in daylight with all four corners visible |
| Expired or damaged document | Use another valid government ID |
| Details don’t match the ID (nickname, old address, typo) | Enter your legal name and details exactly as printed |
| Selfie doesn’t match the ID photo | Face the light, remove glasses, hats and heavy filters; keep your whole face in frame |
| Linked social profile is private or doesn’t show you | Link a public profile that is clearly yours, if asked |
| Profile or bio mentions in-person meetups or payments outside OnlyFans | Remove it: escort services and off-platform payment are against the rules |
| Previously banned account, or someone else’s documents | Not fixable — accounts must belong to the verified person |
These are the reasons most commonly reported by creators and agencies; OnlyFans does not always say which one applied. When a rejection email names a reason, fix exactly that and resubmit.
OnlyFans verification not working?
- Camera or upload fails: allow camera access for the browser, update it, or switch to another browser or device.
- “Verification could not be completed”: wait a little and restart the flow; if it repeats, the ID photo or selfie quality is the usual cause.
- Link expired: start the flow again from your settings to get a fresh link.
- Still stuck: contact support through the OnlyFans Help Center with your username.
OnlyPedia does not provide ways to bypass or fake verification. The checks exist to keep minors and non-consenting people off the platform; getting around them breaks OnlyFans’ Terms and, in many places, the law. Anyone selling “pre-verified accounts” is selling an account that will be banned — and often a scam.
What the verified checkmark means
The checkmark next to a creator’s name on OnlyFans indicates an account that has passed identity verification. It confirms the account holder is a verified adult; it is not an endorsement by OnlyFans, a sign of popularity, or a promise about the content. For fans, the practical value is spotting impersonators: fake “OnlyFans” profiles on other sites and social apps are common. Follow the link from the creator’s own verified social accounts, or from a directory entry such as OnlyPedia’s category pages, rather than a link someone sends you.
Verifying people who appear in your content
Anyone else in your content — a partner, a friend, another creator — must be verified before the content goes up. There are two routes:
- They are a verified OnlyFans creator: tag their account in the post.
- They are not: they complete OnlyFans’ co-performer release (the in-app release form), which verifies their ID and selfie and records their consent.
Posting content with an unverified person can get the post removed and the account restricted. Couples accounts work the same way — see couples OnlyFans.
Is it safe to send OnlyFans your ID?
Your ID and selfie are processed by the verification provider for the check and are not shown on your profile or to fans. No online process is risk-free, so only verify through OnlyFans’ own flow on onlyfans.com or the official app — never through a link sent by a stranger, a “manager” or an agency. Keep in mind that verification means OnlyFans (and tax authorities, through the tax forms) know who you are, even if your page uses a stage name. Frequently asked questions
How do I get verified on OnlyFans?
Sign up, start the creator flow in your settings, enter your details exactly as on your ID, upload a valid government photo ID and take a live selfie. Once approved you can add payout details and start earning.
How long does OnlyFans verification take?
Often a few hours and usually within a day. The commonly quoted maximum is 72 hours; manual reviews and resubmissions take longer.
Why was my OnlyFans verification rejected?
The most common reasons are blurry or glare-covered ID photos, expired documents, details that do not match the ID, a selfie that does not match, or a profile that mentions in-person services or off-platform payments.
Is OnlyFans verification safe?
It is run with a specialist identity-verification provider and your documents are not shown publicly. Only verify inside OnlyFans itself, never through links sent by other people.
Does everyone in my content need to be verified?
Yes. Other people must either be verified OnlyFans creators tagged in the post or complete OnlyFans’ co-performer release with their own ID and selfie.
Is creator verification the same as age verification for fans?
No. Creators always verify their identity with ID and a selfie. Fans are asked to confirm their age only where the law requires it, usually with a quick selfie age estimate.
