OnlyFans Rules: What’s Allowed, What’s Banned & Restricted Words — OnlyPedia guide

OnlyFans allows adult content as long as it is legal, everyone in it is a verified, consenting adult, and it stays off the banned list in the Acceptable Use Policy. That list rules out anything involving minors, incest, bestiality, non-consent, violence, hypnosis or intoxication, drugs, weapons, urine or excrement, escort services, deepfakes and sexual activity in public view, plus behaviour such as spam, account sharing and doxxing. OnlyFans does not publish an official list of banned words, but its filters block messages and captions that touch these topics. Breaking the rules can mean removed content, suspension, a closed account and withheld earnings.

Where OnlyFans’ rules come from

Four documents make up the rules: the Terms of Service (with separate terms for all users, fans and creators), the Acceptable Use Policy (what content and behaviour is allowed), the Community Guidelines in the Help Center, and the Standard Contract between Fan and Creator, which governs each purchase. The rules are shaped by law in the UK, US and elsewhere and by the card networks and banks that process payments — in 2021 OnlyFans announced a ban on sexually explicit content under banking pressure and reversed it within days (see what is OnlyFans). Policies are updated from time to time, so check the current versions on onlyfans.com.

What is allowed on OnlyFans

  • Nudity and explicit content made by and with verified adults who have consented.
  • Safe-for-work content of any kind: fitness, cooking, music, cosplay, education.
  • Other people in your content, if each one is 18 or over, verified, and has given written consent — see OnlyFans verification and couples OnlyFans.
  • Outdoor content in private places or secluded spots where the public is not present (sexual activity where the public is likely to see it is banned).
  • AI-assisted content of the verified creator, clearly labelled as AI, according to widely reported creator guidance; content that fakes anyone else is banned.

Banned content: the Acceptable Use Policy list

The Acceptable Use Policy bans content that shows, promotes, advertises or refers to:

CategoryExamples in the policy
MinorsAnyone under 18, or references to under-18s in general
Unverified peopleAnyone shown without written proof of age and written consent
Non-consent and violenceRape, lack of consent, sexual assault, hypnosis, intoxication, torture, sadomasochistic abuse, hardcore bondage, extreme fisting, genital mutilation
Taboo categoriesIncest, bestiality, necrophilia
Bodily wasteUrine, scatological or excrement-related material
Illegal goods and harmDrugs and paraphernalia, firearms and weapons, self-harm or suicide
Sex work off the platformEscort services, sex trafficking, prostitution
Image abuse“Revenge porn”, deepfakes and other manipulated sexual content
Public placesSexual activity where the public is likely to see it; public nudity where it is illegal
Hate and harassmentHate speech, threats, unsolicited sexual content aimed at others
Private dataAnyone’s phone number, address, documents, location or financial details without consent

Banned behaviour, not just content

  • Sharing, selling or renting your account.
  • Spam and fake engagement — anything that artificially inflates views or interactions.
  • Passing off pre-recorded video as a live stream (OnlyFans Live).
  • Codewords or signals used to communicate something the policy bans.
  • Misleading fans, impersonating anyone, or suggesting OnlyFans endorses you.
  • Extortion — asking for money to remove content.
  • Third-party promotions such as contests, sweepstakes, product placements, ads or job posts without OnlyFans’ prior consent.
  • Downloading or redistributing content, and using bots or scrapers on the site.
  • Off-platform payments for OnlyFans content, which remove all protection for both sides.

OnlyFans banned words and restricted words

There is no official, public list of banned words. OnlyFans runs automated filters over captions, messages and other text, and a message containing a flagged term may be blocked without saying which word caused it. The “banned words lists” online are unofficial compilations by agencies and creators, built from experience. What they have in common is that the flagged words map onto the policy categories above:

  • words that suggest a person is under 18, including school-age role-play terms;
  • family-relationship terms used in a sexual context;
  • words implying force, lack of consent, sleep, hypnosis or intoxication;
  • drug names and weapons;
  • bodily-waste terms;
  • offers to meet in person or escort-type language;
  • payment apps and other platforms, when used to move fans or payments off OnlyFans (commonly reported by creators).

If a word gets blocked, rewrite the sentence rather than disguising the word: using codewords to get around the filter is itself a breach of the Acceptable Use Policy.

Rules for fans

  • Be 18 or over and allowed by local law to use OnlyFans — see is OnlyFans legal.
  • Do not download, record or share creators’ content.
  • Do not share your account.
  • Do not harass creators or send unsolicited sexual content.
  • No bad-faith refund requests or chargebacks: the terms allow OnlyFans to suspend or delete accounts that make them (OnlyFans refunds).

What happens if you break the rules

Under the Terms of Service, OnlyFans can remove or suspend content, notifying you by email or account message but without having to warn you first. It can suspend an account or end its agreement with you immediately for breaches, and can close any account for any reason with 30 days’ notice. For creators, the terms let OnlyFans withhold earnings not yet paid out while an account is suspended, and the Acceptable Use Policy warns that breaches can lead to access to earnings being revoked. If you think a decision is wrong, reply to the notice or contact support with the details — see how to contact OnlyFans support.

A creator’s rules checklist

  1. Keep ID and written consent for everyone who appears in your content.
  2. Film in private places; check the law on nudity where you are.
  3. Read captions, messages, tip menus and live-stream titles against the banned categories before you publish.
  4. Keep every sale and custom request on OnlyFans; never agree to meet fans.
  5. Do not show your own or anyone else’s personal data.
  6. Label AI-assisted content and never use anyone else’s likeness.
  7. Reread the Acceptable Use Policy when OnlyFans announces changes.

Frequently asked questions

What is not allowed on OnlyFans?

Anything involving minors or unverified people, non-consent, violence, hypnosis or intoxication, incest, bestiality, drugs, weapons, urine or excrement, escort services, deepfakes, sexual activity in public view, hate speech and other people’s personal data.

Does OnlyFans have a list of banned words?

Not an official public one. OnlyFans filters text automatically; the lists online are unofficial compilations of words linked to the banned topics in the Acceptable Use Policy.

What are the OnlyFans rules for creators?

Be a verified adult, make sure everyone in your content is verified and has consented in writing, avoid the banned content categories, keep payments on OnlyFans, do not share personal data, and do not pass off recorded video as live.

Can you mention other platforms on OnlyFans?

Promoting third-party commercial activity needs OnlyFans’ consent under the Acceptable Use Policy, and creators commonly report that names of payment apps and competing platforms get flagged. Keep promotion of other platforms off OnlyFans.

Is AI content allowed on OnlyFans?

According to widely reported creator guidance, AI-assisted content must depict the verified creator and be labelled as AI. Deepfakes and manipulated sexual content of anyone else are banned.

Can you post outdoor content on OnlyFans?

Yes, in private or secluded places where the public is not present. Sexual activity where the public is likely to see it is banned, and so is public nudity where it is illegal.

Can OnlyFans creators meet fans?

No. The Acceptable Use Policy bans escort services and prostitution, and arranging paid meetings breaks the rules.

What happens if you break OnlyFans rules?

Content can be removed, the account suspended or closed, and a creator’s earnings withheld or revoked, depending on the breach.
